| On Saturday, September 20, 2025, 20 active interior firefighters from the Village of Mamaroneck Fire Department successfully completed Live Fire Flashover Training. The training was conducted at the Village’s Salt Shed Storage Facility on Fenimore Road and was presented by Flashfire Industries using their certified instructors and 40-foot mobile burn trailer.
This intensive, scenario-based training focused on advanced fire behavior recognition and suppression tactics. Participants included current chiefs, line officers, and firefighters, all of whom gained valuable experience in a controlled live fire environment. The objectives of the course included:
Understanding fire growth and development
Recognition of flashover and backdraft conditions
Observation of roll-over fire behavior
Use and interpretation of thermal imaging cameras (TIC)
Door control techniques during fire attack
Utilization of water cans during initial suppression efforts
This type of training is essential in preparing interior firefighters for the dynamic and hazardous conditions they may face in structure fires. Through realistic simulations and expert instruction provided by Flashfire Industries’ certified training staff, VMFD personnel were able to sharpen their skills, reinforce safety practices, and deepen their understanding of fire behavior.
The department extends its thanks to Flashfire Industries for delivering this high-quality training and to all participating members for their continued commitment to professional development and operational readiness. |
