Last evening, our Department hosted a “Through the Lock: Forcible Entry” training session and extended an invitation to neighboring departments to join us. The Sleepy Hollow Fire Department took us up on the offer, and we were pleased to train alongside their members. The session was led by Westchester County Fire Instructor Rex Morris (Chief, Stamford FD) and members of the WC Fire Instructor Team. It featured an engaging table-top discussion with instructional videos compiled by Chief Morris, followed by a hands-on portion focused on identifying and working through various types of locks firefighters may encounter during emergency responses. Though forcible entry is a basic skill, staying sharp on techniques and tools is essential for quick and effective action on the fireground.
